The first step that preps damaged hair for a deeper bond repair

Olaplex No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment is an intensive at-home treatment for damaged hair, used as the first step of a two-part system with Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector. It works as a primer: sprayed on dry hair, it prepares the strands to take in as much of the bond-building treatment as possible. Its core is the patented Olaplex Bond Building Technology, a single molecule, bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate, that helps relink the broken disulfide bonds in the hair. These bonds hold the hair together; once they break, through colouring, bleaching, heat, brushing or sun, hair becomes dry, frizzy, dull and prone to split ends. According to the brand, using No. 0 before No. 3 gives 68% more repair and three times stronger hair than No. 3 alone. The formula is vegan and very short, with only four ingredients.

How it works

A clear, watery liquid in a spray bottle with a nozzle that reaches the roots. It is applied on dry hair until the strands are damp, left on for about ten minutes, then followed straight away by No. 3 without rinsing in between. It leaves no weight and has almost no scent. Hair feels stronger and smoother after the first treatment, and the results build with regular use. It can be used between salon colour appointments to keep damage under control.

How long one bottle lasts

One bottle gives around three to six treatments depending on hair length and thickness. Used once a week, that means one to two months; used one to three times a week as the brand suggests, count on three to six weeks.

How to use

Comb dry hair and divide it into sections. Spray No. 0 generously from roots to ends until the hair is evenly damp. Leave on for 10 minutes. Without rinsing, apply Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector over it and leave on for at least 10 more minutes, then rinse, shampoo and condition. Repeat one to three times a week.
