La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMune 400 Hydrating Cream SPF50+ is a high-protection sunscreen for dry, very dry and sensitive skin. It is the new version of Anthelios Hydrating Cream, now built around Mexoryl 400, an exclusive filter from 10 years of research that covers ultra-long UVA up to 400nm, the part of the spectrum most sunscreens sold in the United States don't reach. Eight filters in total protect against UVB and all types of UVA, in a cream that hydrates and soothes, for immediate comfort all year round.

The texture

A soft cream that spreads easily and leaves skin comfortable, not shiny. It feels closer to a day cream than a sunscreen, which is why people with dry skin often use it on its own in the morning, with no moisturiser underneath. Netlock technology forms an even film that resists water, sweat and sand, and keeps the cream from running into the eyes.

Who it suits

Worth knowing before you buy: this version contains fragrance; if your skin reacts to it, choose the Fragrance-Free Hydrating Cream. On oily or combination skin, this cream can feel too rich in summer. The Invisible Fluid below gives the same protection with a weightless, fast-drying finish.

How long one tube lasts

At the recommended amount, about a teaspoon for face and neck, a 50ml tube lasts roughly six weeks of daily use. Three tubes travel in the same package as one, at the same shipping rate.

How to use

Apply generously every morning as the last step of your skincare routine, before makeup. Use about a teaspoon for face and neck: most people under-apply, which lowers the protection you actually get. Reapply every 2 hours when outdoors, and after swimming, sweating or towelling off.
