ISDIN Fotoprotector Hydro Oil SPF30 is a two-phase, oil-in-water body sunscreen with high UVB and UVA protection, for anyone who wants to protect their skin while building a more even, longer-lasting tan. Its formula contains Natural Tan Booster, which boosts the skin's natural tan by up to 63% by supporting melanin production. The biphasic texture absorbs straight away, leaves no residue, and leaves skin soft, silky and more supple, while vitamin E adds antioxidant care.

The texture

Two layers in the bottle that you shake together before each use. Once mixed, the lotion sprays on as a light, watery oil that dries in seconds, with no sticky film and no white cast. Skin looks satin rather than oily, and it has a warm summer scent.

Worth knowing before you buy: SPF30 is high protection, not very high: fair or sun-sensitive skin, children and the face are better served by an SPF50. The formula is fragranced and contains colourants, and like all sunscreens it must be reapplied often to keep working.

How long one bottle lasts

Covering the whole body takes about 30ml per application, so a 200ml bottle gives roughly six to seven full applications, around three beach days for one adult.

How to use

Shake for 5 seconds so the two phases mix. Apply generously to dry skin, holding the bottle no more than 5cm away, half an hour before sun exposure. Reapply every 2 hours and after sweating, swimming or towelling off.
