Used cold, they help soothe the swelling and tenderness that follow a birth. Used warm, they give support against uterine cramps. The pads are reusable, so the same two go in the fridge, the freezer or the microwave depending on what the day calls for. It is a practical Dutch nursery-brand item rather than a cosmetic, and it does one job well.

Cold or warm, depending on the day

Used cold, the pads help soothe the swelling and tenderness that follow childbirth, including the discomfort linked to a perineal tear, haemorrhoids or a caesarean section. Used warm, they provide support for uterine cramps - the afterpains that come back during the first days, often while feeding. Same two pads, two completely different uses, which is the whole point of a thermal gel rather than a single-use cold pack.

Comfortable and practical to live with

The pads have a flexible shape that adapts to the body, so you can wear one discreetly inside your underwear or lay it flat on your tummy. To cool them, put them in the fridge or the freezer; to warm them, use the microwave or hot water off the heat. The disposable covers protect the skin and keep the whole thing hygienic between uses. After use, store the pads so they are ready for the next round.

How to use

To use the pad warm, lay it flat in the microwave and heat for 20 seconds at 385 W or 25 seconds at 600 W. Check that it is warm, then heat for a further 5 seconds if needed. You can also immerse it in boiling water, removed from the heat, for 2 to 3 minutes - do not leave it unattended or let it touch the bottom of the pan. To use it cold, place it in the freezer at -18 °C for 2 hours. In either case, slip it into a cover or wrap it in a cotton cloth, and check the temperature before applying it to the sore area. Limit each cold application to 20 minutes. Wipe the pad before use.

Composition - PVC: 11 % · water: 49 % · glycerol: 11,4 % · cellulose gum: 28,5 % · pigment: 0,1 %. Second component - Water: 77,5 % · glycerol: 18 % · cellulose gum: 4,5 %.
Warning: before each use, check that the compress is not damaged or leaking; do not use it if it is damaged. Never put a frozen compress in the microwave or a hot compress in the freezer. Store the compresses in a cool, dry place.
