Kérastase Nutritive Bain Satin Riche is a high-nutrition shampoo for very dry, medium to thick hair that needs intense nourishment. It cleanses gently while anti-dryness polymers deliver hydration and help strengthen the hair from the first wash. Plant-based proteins from wheat, corn and soy supply the nutrients dry hair loses over time, and niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3, locks that nourishment in and reinforces the hair fibre. Glycerin of plant origin boosts the overall hydration. Kérastase reports up to 56% more immediate hydration and nourished-feeling hair for up to 72 hours, with more shine and strength after regular use.

The texture

A white, creamy gel that lathers into a soft, cushiony foam. It rinses out cleanly and leaves hair supple, easy to detangle and shiny, with the recognisable Nutritive floral scent. It nourishes without leaving the hair flat or greasy, and a small amount goes a long way on thick hair.

Worth knowing before you buy: this is a rich shampoo made for thick, very dry hair. On fine or oily hair it can feel too heavy, so the lighter Nutritive Bain Satin is a better match. It contains sulfates (sodium laureth and lauryl sulfate) and fragrance. Follow with a conditioner or mask for the best softness, and keep heat styling on a lower setting to help the hair keep its moisture.

How long a bottle lasts

With about 5ml per wash, the 500ml bottle gives around 100 washes: roughly 7 to 8 months at three washes a week, about twice as long as the 250ml size.
